History of Pride
How did it all start?
In the 60's there were laws that suggested man and woman had to wear clothing that matched their gender on their ID.
Police arrested gender non conforming and trans gender individuals
Riots broke out when people started to fight back.

June is Worldwide Pride Month to commemorate this uprising that took place on June 26 1969.
It took 30 years for pride month to become officially recognized.
The 1st Pride Port Elizabeth took place in 2011.
October 13 1990 marks the first ever Pride and was held in Johannesburg.
